Wurlitzing Around

organ workers (1)

Here volunteers Bob Straub, Don Walton, Dave Weber and Herb Sinclair work on the museum’s 1919 Wurlitzer organ.

The organ was moved from the Liberty Theater in 1988 and re-installed at the museum in 1989 after a successful “Save the Organ” community fundraising drive that came up with the $60,000 needed to save this working piece of North Central Washington history.

The money raised during the campaign paid for remodeling museum space to house the organ and for refurbishment of the organ. The organ is played regularly at the museum for concerts, movies and special occasions.

A group of dedicated community volunteers meet every Monday morning at the museum to keep the organ shined, tuned and in good working order. Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the museum. If you’d like to learn more about how to volunteer, visit this page on our website.
