Help Honor Our Community’s Veterans Nov. 1

Lt. George Howard Donaldson in Germany - March 26 1919 91-56-2

Lt. George Howard Donaldson in Germany, March 26 1919

In honor of Veterans Day the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center is displaying “Our Men and Women in the Military.”

Drawing from the museum’s collection and private collections, the exhibit highlights the experiences of area men and women in service to our country.

The display explores the history of Veterans Day from its beginning as Armistice Day in 1919 to the present. Artifacts and uniforms are on display, with some items dating back to the 1860s.

There is also a reading area where visitors can browse through items, clippings and mementoes provided by local residents.

The exhibit opens on Friday, November 1 with a reception at 5 p.m. and runs through January 18, 2014. On the First Friday of each month you can visit and not only enjoy free admission all day, but also a reception with free refreshments from 5 to 8 p.m. during Wenatchee First Friday.
